Mosaic Tile Coaster Instructions

Materials Included:

Wooden Coaster, Mosaic Tiles, Grout, Glue, Scraper, Sponge, Wooden Mixing Spoon, Cup and Gloves.

Materials Needed:

Measuring spoon and Paper Towels

Instructions:

The photos below are for demonstrative purposes. Your coaster may be a different shape and/or colors. The instructions are the same regardless of your specific crafting kit.

1. Create your design on the coaster. 

2. Remove your tiles and set aside keeping the design in order.  *See Photo Below*

3. Apply glue to the coaster and place your tiles on the coaster. You should be able to move the tiles slightly before the glue sets. See Photo Below

4. Let the glue dry for approximately 20 min.

5. Put on your gloves and prepare your grout mixture by dumping the powdered grout into the cup. Add approximately 1.5 tsp of water. Add the water slowly, and stir with the wooden spoon. The consistency should be that of toothpaste. Wait 5 min and stir grout again. *See Photos Below*

6. Cover your coaster and tiles with the grout. *See Photo Below*

7. Using the flat scraper, work the grout into the spaces by scraping in multiple directions over the coaster at a 45-deg angle. If you expose a small gap in the grout as you apply it, go back over the gap and ensure grout gets down in that hole.

8. Scrape off excess grout with the scraper and remove from the coaster.

9.  Let the grout dry for 10-20 min then lightly wipe off the grout from the surface of the tiles with a damp sponge. Do not remove the grout between the tiles. Wipe off excess grout onto a paper towel then rinse the sponge frequently as it gets covered in grout. Additionally, wipe off any grout off the wooden perimeter of the coaster. *See Photos Below*

10. Wait 2 hours, then wipe off any haze left on the surface of the tiles with a dry paper towel. *See Photo Below*

11. Let the coaster dry completely for 24 hours. If there is any grout still on the tiles, use a damp paper towel and wipe them off.

12. Once dry, you are able to start using your coaster!

To clean up, toss out all remaining grout. Do NOT pour any grout down the drain.
